Quotes[]

Oliver: we bumped into some of your gifts at the top of your closet that we could only assume are ours.

Taylor: (rudely) books, pajamas, really Mom?

Katie: (gets very offended and very sad when Taylor and Oliver confront her)

Oliver: if you had confusion about a wishlist you could’ve come to us. We try to make ourselves available for these types of things.

Katie: (starts to get more strict) Greg, what is the positive spin on your kids acting like entitled Westport

Taylor: language.

Katie: apple holes.

Taylor: better.

Greg: ok you guys are completely out of mind. But...this is a good opportunity for a Christmas lesson.

Katie: great. You’re jolly old saint Greg and I’m just regular old Santa Claus.

Anna-Kat: hey, mama, the elf.

Katie: (gasps and tries to make the elf better while the elf is on fire)

Anna-Kat: you murdered our elf....Krampus.

Katie: (gasps sadly)

Taylor: yeah. You can be a jerk. (Her, Oliver and Anna-Kat walk away because Taylor and Oliver are not talking to Katie)

(the day after)

Anna-Kat: mama, can I go on the iPad?

Katie: no sweetie not right now. In a few minutes, we’re going to deliver gifts to rich people.

Anna-Kat: (gasps sadly) oh. We won’t have presents then because we’re poor.

Katie: don’t worry. We’ll still get some gifts from Santa I hope.

Anna-Kat: (gasps happily) yay. But what about the iPad?

Katie: don’t worry. We’ll bring it for the car rides. OK?

Anna-Kat: OK mama.

(8 PM)

Katie: alright everyone let’s go. In the car. (Everyone goes in the car)

(at the rich people’s house)

Kristina: here you go. (Delivers the presents to the rich people)

Anna-Kat: (starts crying because the ottos won’t get any presents because they’re poor people)

Katie: I know it’s sad. I know. (Both hug for the rest of the rich people Christmas present delivery while Anna-Kat is still crying)

Taylor: (rolls her eyes angrily while Anna-Kat is crying and uses her phone)

Elizabeth: (whispers to Greg) this is why she wants presents and now she can’t have them and now, she’s crying because we’re poor.

Greg: I know. She was a couple seconds ago.

Elizabeth: I know.

Katie: you know sweetie, you can use my phone for a few minutes to cheer you up. Ok?

Anna-Kat: ok. (Sniffles and wipes away her tears)

Katie: (gives Anna-Kat’s Katie’s phone)

Anna-Kat: (uses Katie’s phone for a few minutes)

(during the car ride home)

Anna-Kat: (uses the iPad during the car ride home)

Katie: (sighs sadly) a little depressing but at least we go into it. Right Greg?

Greg: yeah I think we did do the right thing.

(the week after)

Katie: alright. Let’s go. It’s time to do some camping.

Oliver: no.

Katie: yes. It’ll be fun.

Anna-Kat: (gasps happily) camping. (Screams happily) I wanna do some camping.

Katie: you sure are sweetheart. Taylor come on.

Taylor: really Mom? Really outside?

Katie: yes. Now come on.

Taylor: Mom, I’m 15. You can’t force me to do things like that. I’m an adult.

Katie: well as an adult as the oldest, you are going to spend time with this family and you’re not going anywhere out with your friends today. You will stay home and you will do camping with us.

Taylor: ugh!

Greg: your Mom is right. You’re staying with us. Camping’s gonna be so much fun Taylor. And we’ll think you’ll enjoy it with us.

Taylor: well it’s not good to not go with my friends today. You think that I have to camp with you guys because you think you can force me? I’m 15.

Katie: Taylor, Oliver and Anna-Kat are camping with us that means you have to as well.

Greg: spending time with family is very important than going out with your friends all the time.

Taylor: well it’s gonna be boring so I am not joining in.

Katie: come on it’ll be fun. We’ll do s’mores, we’ll tell stories,

Greg: we’ll have so much fun together because it’s awesome. We love it when you spend time with us.

Taylor: well it’s gonna be all crazy because Anna-Kat is gonna annoy me the entire time we’re camping.

Katie: well I told her not to during camping and she promised me not to annoy you so come on. Join in with us.

Taylor: (starts to get angry)

Greg: yeah it’s gonna be fun. We’re also allowing cellphones so we all can take pictures with.

Taylor: what if mine doesn’t work in the tent.

Katie: it’ll work in the tent. We live here. I think you should camp with us.

Taylor: (sighs) fine. (Everyone goes to the tent)

Katie: ok. So who wants to go first?

Greg: I will so long time ago, the Christmas tradition is about singing carols.

(when camping was over)

Katie: alright camping is over. Thank You. Taylor, thanks for bonding time with us.

Taylor: yeah I know that all the time. I’m going with my friends. See you later. (Opens the door and closes it)

Oliver: (uses his phone)

Greg: (closes the tent)

Katie: (brings the gram crackers, marshmallows and Hershey’s in the house)

Anna-Kat: (brings in her stuffed animals upstairs to her room)

Katie: Anna-Kat, can we have a word please?

Anna-Kat: (goes to Katie)

Katie: I have to say I am so proud of you. You were not annoying Taylor and Oliver during the entire backyard camping thing. I am so so so proud of you.

Anna-Kat: thanks mama. You’re the best person of the Otto family ever.

Katie: Aw. (Both hug for 10 minutes)
